- Born in Hibbing, MN (look it up on the map) as the first of 3 kids. Both parents found music at an early age - father Ron's band called "Ronny and the Rockets" won a Battle of the Bands contest against fellow high school friend Robert Zimmerman (Bob Dylan) and have been cited in numerous stories regarding music in Minnesota during the mid to late 50's.
